Volunteer FAQ

Q: Is there a minimum age for volunteers?

A: Yes, the minimum age for volunteers is fourteen.


Q: Is there a cost to volunteer?

A: Yes, the cost to volunteer is $85. As a part of this, you will receive a volunteer package valued at over $300. The package fee helps subsidize your cost to volunteer and thereby supports the tournament's endeavours to generate more funds to donate to our charitable partner, St. Mary's General Hospital Foundation. Your volunteer package includes:

  • One (1) high performance adidas golf shirt
  • One (1) tournament hat
  • One (1) volunteer badge providing entrance for the week
  • One (1) parking pass to the designated volunteer parking area in the VIP lot
  • One (1) water bottle
  • Six (6) ‘Any Day’ grounds tickets to share with family and friends
  • One (1) invitation to the volunteer appreciation party
  • Lunch and assorted snacks while volunteering on scheduled shifts
  • 2017 commemorative pin


Q: What is the volunteer uniform?

A: Each volunteer participating in the Manulife LPGA Classic will receive an adidas shirt and a hat.  Volunteers are to wear their own khaki bottoms. Men can wear khaki pants or shorts and women can wear khaki pants, capris, knee length shorts or skorts. On Friday, we encourage all our volunteers to wear red accessories in support of Red Day. 


Q: If I am no longer able to volunteer, can I receive a refund?

A: Yes, you will be issued a refund if you cancel before May 12, 2017. 


Q: If I purchased tickets and then become a volunteer, can I refund my tickets?

A: No, unfortunately all ticket sales are final.


Q: Do I need to be a golfer or have golf knowledge to volunteer?

A: No you do not! We have several committees to choose from that do not require any golf knowledge.


Q: How many shifts will I be scheduled for during the tournament?

A:  It will vary depending on the committee you are assigned, however we ask that all volunteers work a minimum of three (3) to four (4) shifts, with each shift ranging from four (4) to six (6) hours. Some shifts may be longer due to the nature of the committee.


Q: How do I know my committee assignment?

A: Once you have completed the online registration and your payment has been processed, you will receive an email confirming your selection as a volunteer for the 2017 Manulife LPGA Classic. Committe assignments are ongoing and after you have been assigned to a committee, you will receive another e-mail with your committee name. We will do our best to assign everyone to one of their top three choices. You can also log-on to your account through the Manulife LPGA Classic website to find your assignment there.


Q: How do I sign in to my volunteer account?

A: Click here to access your volunteer account and sign in with the username and password that you selected when you registered. Contact Becky Kolberg at becky@manulifeclassic.ca if you experience any difficulties.


Q: How do I know my schedule? And when will I receive my schedule?

A: We ask you to help create your schedule by completing your availability during registration and update it when new information arises. After committee assignments have been made, your committee chairperson will assign you shifts for the week and notify you of your schedule. Any changes or issues with your schedule will be made through the committee chair. The committee schedules will be made available in May and can be viewed through your volunter accont.


Q: Can I be scheduled (shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?

A: We will make every effort to accommodate your scheduling requests. Shift coordinating is only applicable within each committee (i.e. two people on different committees cannot be scheduled to work together at the same times). Make sure to list your request on your registration form and select similar availability to the person you wish to work with during the tournament.


Q: What is Volunteer Orientation?

A: At your orientation, you will pick up your volunteer package, receive general training on your duties, meet your committee chair, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the volunteer experience.  This is where your uniform will be distributed.

  • Even if you volunteered in previous years, attending your orientation is important to receive information about your committee, and it is also when you pick up your uniform and credential.

  • You will not be able to exchange your uniform for a different size at the orientation.


Q: When is the orientation scheduled this year?

A: Orientation is scheduled for Saturday, May 13 at the Holiday Inn Kitchener. We ask that you please only show up to your scheduled orientation time. Please click here for schedule and more details.


Q: What if I cannot attend the volunteer orientation?

A: Please make every effort to attend your session, however if you are unable to make it please contact your committee chair for futher details.


Q: What do I do if my uniform does not fit?

A: We will offer uniform exchange on Saturday, June 3 from 9am-11am at the Admissions tent or during the week of the tournament. After uniforms are distributed, we cannot guarantee your size will be available.


Q: Can I purchase extra uniform items?

A: Yes, you may purchase them in Volunteer Headquarters during tournament week while supplies last.


Q: Can I watch golf when I am not working?

A: Yes. Your volunteer credential will serve as your admission pass for the entire week and we encourage you to use it. We do ask that you not wear your uniform when not on duty, so please bring a change of clothes if you plan to spectate before or after your shift.


Q: Can I take photographs?

A: You may take photographs prior to the official tournament round.  The LPGA Tour prohibits cameras during tournament round Thursday to Sunday.  Please refrain from taking photographs while on shift.


Q: Can I ask for autographs?

A: You may ask for an autograph after the player's round, but not while they are playing.  Please refrain from asking for autographs while on shift.   Also, please do not use your volunteer position as an advantage to get autographs.


Q: What happens if it rains?

A: The event will go on and we will need your help. Make sure to report to your committee’s check-in location prior to your shift, rain or shine.
